Editorial Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-12

TryTechyo is committed to publishing accurate, useful, and independent technology journalism. This Editorial Policy describes how we research, write, fact-check, and update our articles.

Editorial independence

Our editorial team has full and final authority over which stories we cover and how we cover them. Advertisers, affiliate partners, and the businesses we write about have no influence over editorial content. Advertisers do not see articles prior to publication.

Source standards

We rely on first-hand experience wherever possible. When we cite external sources, we link to them directly so readers can verify the claim themselves. We avoid citing other blogs or aggregators as primary sources; we go to the official documentation, original research, or manufacturer announcement.

Fact-checking

Every article is reviewed by at least one editor before publication. Technical claims (settings paths, command syntax, file sizes, prices) are verified by physically performing the action on a current device. Articles older than 12 months are flagged for review and re-tested.

Updates and corrections

When we update an article significantly, we add an "Updated" date and a brief changelog. When we make a factual correction, we add a clear correction note at the top of the article describing what changed and why. Significant corrections are also flagged on our homepage for at least seven days.

AI policy

We do not publish AI-generated articles. AI tools may be used by our writers for tasks like proofreading, generating initial outlines, or brainstorming headline variations, but every published word is written, edited, and verified by a human author.

Affiliate and sponsored content policy

Some articles contain affiliate links — we may earn a commission when readers click through and make a purchase. We disclose this clearly. We never accept payment for positive coverage and we do not publish sponsored articles. If a product or service is reviewed favourably, it is because our editors believe it deserves the recommendation.

Bylines and attribution

Every article carries the name of the human author who wrote it. Authors have public bios listing their experience and expertise. We do not publish under pseudonyms or anonymously.

User privacy in articles

When we share examples drawn from real readers (e.g., emailed questions), we anonymise them by default. We do not publish names, emails, or identifying details without explicit written permission.
